[Shizukuishi Golf Course] First in Tohoku! Japan FootGolf Association Certified Course Born - FootGolf at Shizukuishi Golf Course, Iwate, Starts This Spring

Shizukuishi Golf Course (Location: Takakura Onsen, Shizukuishi-cho, Iwate-gun, Iwate Prefecture; General Manager of Shizukuishi area: Koji Nagasawa) will begin operating a new sports activity, 'FootGolf,' from the spring of 2026. This course will be the first Japan FootGolf Association certified course in the Tohoku area. FootGolf is a sport where players kick a soccer ball around a golf course, competing for the number of kicks it takes to get the ball into a dedicated cup. It is gaining popularity around the world as a new leisure sport that fuses soccer and golf. It is attracting attention as a sport that can be easily enjoyed by a wide range of generations, from children to adults, without the need for special equipment. For this occasion, former Japan national football team player Daigo Nishi participated as a supervisor in the course design. A FootGolf course featuring a layout that allows players to enjoy strategy and exhilaration has been completed. Set against fairways surrounded by majestic nature, players can enjoy playing with a sense of scale unique to a golf course. To commemorate the start of operations, an opening event will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026. It will be implemented as an event that even first-timers can easily participate in, including rule explanations and trial play. By providing a new sports experience in addition to golf, Shizukuishi Golf Course will develop FootGolf as an initiative that leads to regional exchange and tourism revitalization.
