Canon Marketing Japan Inc. (President: Masachika Adachi; hereinafter "Canon MJ") and Primajest Inc. (President: Hideaki Inagaki; hereinafter "Primajest") have introduced the "Identity Verification Support Solution" to The Chiba Kogyo Bank, Ltd. (President: Hitoshi Umeda; hereinafter "Chiba Kogyo Bank"). Operations will begin sequentially across all Chiba Kogyo Bank branches starting May 2026. This solution strengthens the reliability of identity verification at branch counters by supporting IC chip reading of identity documents and the Public Individual Authentication Service (JPKI) using My Number Cards, thereby enhancing security for face-to-face transactions and improving operational efficiency at business locations.

In recent years, financial crimes such as identity theft, fraudulent account openings, and specialized fraud have increased, making the tightening of identity verification an urgent task. Against this background, the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds (hereinafter "APTCP") was amended, making the reading of IC chips in identity documents mandatory for face-to-face procedures from April 2027. For future face-to-face transactions, identity verification via Public Individual Authentication (JPKI) is recommended as more rigorous verification is required. Regional banks and credit unions need to implement legal compliance and advanced security measures with limited personnel while maintaining community-based services, necessitating a balance between safety and operational efficiency.

To address these challenges, Canon MJ has been deploying the "Identity Verification Support Solution" corresponding to the amended APTCP since November 2024, and it has been adopted by major financial institutions. This solution optimizes the process of identity verification through IC chip reading for authenticity determination, facial recognition, and Public Individual Authentication (JPKI). Furthermore, through Software Development Kits (SDK) and API integration, it can be easily implemented into existing financial institution systems, allowing for flexible construction according to customer needs.

With this introduction, Chiba Kogyo Bank has begun identity verification using the Public Individual Authentication Service (JPKI) at its counters. This enhances security and reduces the burden of counter operations by linking the read data and inquiry results with the core banking system to streamline account openings and various procedures.

Canon MJ and Primajest will accelerate the rollout of the "Identity Verification Support Solution" to financial institutions, including regional banks and credit unions, and will continue to support the promotion of DX for regional financial institutions and the realization of safe and secure financial transactions.
