Pride House Tokyo, a non-profit organization aiming to promote and realize an inclusive society, held a visiting class on the theme of sports and diversity at Nagoya City Chikusho Elementary School on February 5, 2026. This class was selected as part of the "20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Official Cultural Program Project." Moving forward, we will continue to implement programs that promote the understanding and awareness of diversity in sports, targeting educational institutions and sports organizations in Aichi Prefecture, in preparation for the Asian Games to be held starting in September.
The Asian Games, held once every four years, will take place under the slogan "Here, We Connect." A class was held at an elementary school as part of the Official Cultural Program Project.
In recent years, sports that everyone can enjoy, such as the Deaflympics, universal sports, and new sports, have been gaining popularity. This year, with the "Asian Games," Asia's largest sports festival held every four years, the promotion of diversity in sports as a long-term positive impact (legacy) created by the event is becoming increasingly important from the perspectives of well-being and a symbiotic society.
The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games, held under the slogan "Here, We Connect.," feature cultural programs that introduce and promote the charms of Japan's and Aichi's history, culture, arts, nature, and industry. Pride House Tokyo was selected as an "Official Cultural Program" certified by the organizing committee for the initiatives of various organizations. On February 5, 2026, a visiting class was held at Nagoya Municipal Chikusho Elementary School for 3rd and 4th graders, and 5th and 6th graders. This initiative aimed to provide an experience of "a safe and secure environment for sports participation for everyone" and offered children an opportunity to consider how to accept differences through sports and the importance of not assuming what is "normal." On the day, Ai Murak Murakami, Pride House Tokyo Sports Representative and former Japan Rugby National Team player, and Shiho Shimotada, former women's soccer player, participated as guests.
