Premedica, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tomo Tominaga), a company that develops testing services in the preventive medicine field, is launching 'Uncheck' (*1), a children's stomach test for children aged 2-12, based on research results from an industry-academia collaboration with Setsunan University and Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine.

This service evaluates disruptions in a child's intestinal environment by measuring 'Blautia' bacteria (Patent pending *2). Through a collaboration with 'Unko Drill' (Bunkosha Co., Ltd.), which has sold over 10 million copies, the service incorporates a mechanism for children to learn about their bodies and dietary habits in a fun way. This is the first time an intestinal bacteria test has been linked with 'Unko Drill' (*3).

*1 Trademark pending
*2 Patent application number: 2024-124643
*3 The collaboration between an intestinal bacteria test and 'Unko Drill' is a first in Japan (as of March 2026, according to our own research).

■ Background | Towards a new food education where children 'want to know their own bodies'

To maximize a child's potential, a foundation of health is essential. However, in reality, many guardians worry about 'invisible health' issues such as picky eating, stomach problems, and future risks of obesity or allergies.

Until now, food education has largely been something that is taught.

This service aims to spark a 'self-driven food education experience' where children become curious about their own bodies and eating habits through the objective data of an intestinal bacteria test.

As a first step, we have achieved our first collaboration with 'Unko Drill,' which has overwhelming support from children.

The included booklet uses humorous descriptions to foster realizations like 'eating is important' and 'my body is interesting.' Through the test, we nurture the experience of thinking proactively about food and health, turning 'food education (≒ gut health activities)' from an obligation into a part of everyday life.

The development of this service is based on research on children's intestinal microbiota by Professor Ryo Inoue and his team at the Department of Applied Biological Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Setsunan University. Through an integrated analysis of three independent studies, the link between the prevalence of 'Blautia' bacteria and disturbances in the intestinal environment was clarified. As a scientifically-backed test, guardians can use it with peace of mind.
