Currently, damage caused by the invasive alien species, the red-necked longhorn beetle (Aromia bungii), is spreading across Saitama Prefecture, affecting cherry and plum trees. There is a high risk of further spread this summer due to adult beetle dispersal and egg-laying activities.

To address this during the adult emergence period, Saitama Prefecture is launching a public awareness and prevention campaign, urging residents' cooperation in intensive pest control efforts.

Campaign: Prevention of Red-necked Longhorn Beetle Damage

'Great Survey 2026: Discover the Red-necked Longhorn Beetle' is now underway

To monitor the spread, the 'Great Survey 2026' is being conducted with a concentrated survey period until August 31. (Note: Reports will still be accepted after August 31.)

If you spot adult beetles or signs of infestation such as frass, please take a photo and report it via the smartphone reporting form below. Reports are also accepted by email or mail. Information confirming no infestation is also valuable for monitoring and should be reported.
