Kanagawa Prefecture Opens Late Application Period for FY2026 Magcal Development Promotion Subsidy

This subsidy supports expenses for new cultural and arts projects undertaken by private organizations to promote 'Magnet Culture (Magcal),' an initiative that uses the appeal of culture and arts to attract people and create regional vibrancy.

1. Subsidy Overview

Name: Kanagawa Prefecture Magcal Development Promotion Subsidy

Eligible Applicants: Private organizations (including unincorporated associations)

Eligible Projects: New cultural and arts projects implemented within the prefecture and open to the general public.

Standard Projects (Cultural/arts projects other than priority projects) | 1/3 | 1,000,000 yen

Priority Project (1): Projects promoting an inclusive society (e.g., for the elderly, disabled, multicultural coexistence) | 1/2 | 3,000,000 yen

Priority Project (2): Projects where local communities proactively revitalize the region through cultural and arts activities | 1/3 | 10,000,000 yen

Priority Project (3): Projects related to region-specific traditional performing arts and folk performing arts | 2/3 | 3,000,000 yen

Priority Project (4): Projects for training young people as human resources engaged in culture and arts | 1/3 | 3,000,000 yen

2. Target Projects for This Application Period

Projects that start (e.g., hold the first day of a performance) between November 1, 2026 (Sunday) and March 31, 2027 (Wednesday).

3. Main Changes for FY2026

For Priority Project (3), 'Projects related to region-specific traditional performing arts and folk performing arts,' the scope has been revised to include repairs of equipment meeting certain requirements as eligible expenses. Please check the application guidelines for details.

Application Period: June 5, 2026 (Friday) to July 8, 2026 (Wednesday)
