The Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art (Kanazawa City) will hold "Rei Kamoi in Photographs: Inner Camoy, Outer Camoy" from Saturday, April 25, 2026, to Sunday, May 24, as the second installment of the 40th anniversary exhibition of his death. Approximately 90 portraits of the painter Rei Kamoi (including unreleased works) taken by photographer Emiko Toyama over 15 years, along with about 40 of Kamoi's representative oil paintings and drawings, will be exhibited. This special exhibition delves into the true character of Kamoi, who spent his life questioning "what it means to be human."

During the exhibition period, two types of photo spots will be set up where visitors can take photos with Rei Kamoi.

One spot, "In Production" (①), allows visitors to pose like Rei Kamoi working on his masterpiece "1982, Me" (1982, Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art collection), which is featured in textbooks. The other, "Out and About" (②), allows visitors to pose alongside Kamoi as he walks through the city.

Taking photos in black and white is also recommended.

In addition to gallery talks and Saturday lectures, related activities will also be held to allow visitors to experience Kamoi's worldview from multiple perspectives, including the sale of collaboration sweets at the museum cafe "Le Musée de H KANAZAWA."

- Collaboration Sweets "Monochrome"

The base is a chocolate mousse made with rare white cacao, layered with black sesame and coffee cream. The monochrome gradation is expressed by the layers transitioning from black to gray and then to pale beige. The cut cross-section also features a soft gradation. Responding to the exhibition theme, the quiet appearance of the exterior and the expression of the layers revealed in the cross-section subtly express the contrast between inner and outer.

Sales period: Saturday, April 25 - Sunday, May 24
Price: Takeout 1,080 yen / Eat-in 1,100 yen (tax included)
