Approximately 2MW / 4MWh Storage Battery Facility Starts Operation in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture Hirasol Energy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director: Li Min; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce that the grid-connected energy storage facility "Ishikawa Prefecture Kaga City Bunkyocho Storage Facility" (hereinafter referred to as "this facility") commenced operations and was connected to the grid on April 1, 2026, in Bunkyocho, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. This facility was designed, constructed, and procured by Hirasol Densetsu Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. Moving forward, the Company will act as an aggregator, utilizing its proprietary energy management system "J-EMS" with market trading functions, to contribute to grid stabilization and the effective utilization of renewable energy by providing ancillary services to the supply-demand adjustment market.

Background and Significance

With the massive introduction of renewable energy, the variability of power grids is increasing, making the securing of "ancillary services" (Note 1) a more critical issue than ever before. This storage facility is expected to provide ancillary services through the supply-demand adjustment market, promoting both the further dissemination of renewable energy and the stability of the power grid.

Main Activities by the Company

■ Design and Construction of the Storage Facility

The design, construction, and equipment procurement for this facility were handled by our subsidiary, Hirasol Densetsu Co., Ltd. From the design phase to grid connection, we have established a stable operational system by considering safety and maintainability, providing flexible responses tailored to the site environment and installation conditions, and supervising construction by our own engineers.

■ Introduction of Energy Management System "J-EMS"

We have introduced "J-EMS," an energy management system independently developed by our company, to optimally control the charging and discharging of the battery.
"J-EMS" accurately forecasts demand and market prices on the cloud side, bids in multiple markets such as the wholesale electricity market and the supply-demand adjustment market, and controls on-site equipment based on market instructions after winning bids.
It integrates with various devices through our self-developed hardware (edge) to achieve optimal charging and discharging. Through these controls, we contribute to maximizing the profitability of storage facilities and power plants, stable utilization of renewable energy, and further CO₂ reduction.

Future Development

Based on our independently developed energy management system "J-EMS," we will begin participating in the supply-demand adjustment market within the year and commence operations as an aggregator responsible for forecasting, control, and market bidding. Moving forward, we will leverage our strength in developing and implementing our own EMS and operating as an aggregator to promote grid-connected battery projects nationwide, contributing to the spread of renewable energy and the stabilization of power grids.

Note 1: Ancillary services refer to the adjustment functions necessary to match electricity supply and demand in real-time. As the proportion of renewable energy increases, output fluctuations become larger, making it important for distributed power sources such as batteries to take on these adjustment roles. The supply-demand adjustment market is a new market established for trading these ancillary services.

J-EMS is our proprietary energy management system, developed with support from the National Research and Development Agency NEDO's subsidy project "Industrial Technology Research and Development Program for the Discovery and Commercialization of Seeds for New Energy, etc.," which has undergone technical verification and refinement.
