POP MART Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the world's leading pop culture and entertainment art toy brand POP MART (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: De-yi Wen), will host 'MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN,' The MONSTERS 10th Anniversary Exhibition Tokyo, at Azabudai Hills Gallery (Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza A, MB Floor) starting Thursday, June 11, 2026. This global tour, which began in Shanghai and traveled through Taipei, Hong Kong, and Paris, finally arrives in Tokyo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of 'THE MONSTERS' by artist Kasing Lung. (Advance tickets will be available from May 25th on the POP MART official website).

Kasing Lung's popular character "LABUBU" has captivated fans worldwide with its adorable appearance. Its roots lie in Kasing Lung's three-part picture book series, 'THE MONSTERS TRILOGY' — 'The Story of Puca,' 'Pato and the Girl,' and 'Miró’s Requiem.'

Kasing Lung, who moved to the Netherlands in his childhood, became interested in legends and folktales about European fairies after he started reading picture books to learn Dutch. Since then, he has brought characters from 'THE MONSTERS' series, including LABUBU, to life through his brushwork, creating an imaginative world. This worldview has continued to be loved by many people ever since. Inspired by the forests of Northern Europe, the unique characters have spread beyond countries and cultures, growing into cultural icons that combine trendiness and relatability.

First Public Release of a New Immersive Experience Area that Transports You into the Picture Book

This exhibition creates a space where the reality and fantasy of 'THE MONSTERS TRILOGY' intersect. The "Immersive Video Theater," a newly unveiled area, will feature an animation of the first chapter of 'THE MONSTERS TRILOGY,' 'The Story of Puca,' created by toito, presented with five-sided projection and stereoscopic surround sound. 'THE MONSTERS TRILOGY' is a picture book published 10 years ago, but only a few hundred copies were ever issued, making opportunities to see it very limited until now. This exhibition offers a precious opportunity to fully immerse oneself in its world.

In addition, you can experience the 10-year journey of Kasing Lung, LABUBU, and their companions from 'THE MONSTERS' in the "Magical Forest," which consists of eight areas, including newly opened zones.

"Painting & Sculpture Zone"

This zone reflects Kasing Lung's worldview and thoughts through his oil paintings and three-dimensional works.

"Experience Area"

LABUBU plush toys, created in collaboration with POP MART, are crammed into fairy houses, offering a photogenic space.

"Art Toy Exhibition Zone"

Starting with the first LABUBU figures, this zone displays collaborative works up to the present day, allowing visitors to trace their evolution and history.

"Mirror Room"

This room exhibits the 'THE MONSTERS' series collection, where mirror reflections create an infinitely expanding art universe, allowing visitors to experience a fantastical dimension.

"Picture Book Area"

Through 'Pato and the Girl,' the second chapter of 'THE MONSTERS TRILOGY,' visitors can deeply re-examine the theme of "love."

"Creative Journey and Sketch Zone"

This zone delves into Kasing Lung's sources of inspiration and presents his 10-year journey with HOW2WORK in a chronological format.

Furthermore, Kasing Lung's collection of original artworks, to which he has shifted his creative focus in recent years, will also be publicly exhibited. Visitors can experience the birth process of the characters through the depth created by the varied line weights unique to original drawings and touch upon the artist's origins. In addition, original artworks specially drawn for this exhibition will be unveiled for the first time.

This will be a special opportunity for many existing LABUBU fans, as well as new admirers, to rediscover the charm of LABUBU and its companions, experiencing the entire series.
