2027 International Horticultural Exposition Flower and Green Exhibition "Earth Saver Farm" Project Announced

Plantio Inc. and CLASS EARTH Inc. held a kickoff and momentum-building event for the "Earth Saver Farm" project, which has been selected for the flower and green exhibition at the 2027 International Horticultural Exposition (GREEN×EXPO 2027) in Yokohama. This project aims to empower the next generation of children to disseminate actions for realizing a sustainable society (nature-positive) to the world through food and agriculture education utilizing IoT technology and the use of unused resources.

Plantio Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director CEO: Takayoshi Serizawa, hereinafter "Plantio"), a social impact startup aiming to democratize agriculture and food and realize a universally accessible "agri-food infrastructure," and CLASS EARTH Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) held a kickoff event and a momentum-building experiential event for the "Earth Saver Farm" project, which has been selected for the flower and green exhibition at the "2027 International Horticultural Exposition (GREEN×EXPO 2027)" to be held in Yokohama in 2027, at the "Smart Community Farm" in Otemachi, Tokyo.

This project is an initiative where children, as the main actors, utilize IoT technology for food and agriculture education and the use of unused resources to disseminate actions for realizing a sustainable society (nature-positive) to the world.

At this event, approaches from both business and education perspectives regarding food security and environmental issues were shared through a panel discussion by experts from various fields.

## Representative Greetings: Updating "Agriculture" with Technology and Fostering Next-Generation Leaders

The event was attended by Earth Saver children and special guest Reon Tanie, the voice actress for Kanade in 'Chikyu no La Terre'. The moderation was handled by Kaede, Chief Earth Saver, representing the children who are the main protagonists of this project. At the beginning, representatives from both co-exhibiting companies took the stage to share the project's vision.

Takayoshi Serizawa, Representative Director CEO, Plantio Inc.

"Plantio is a startup that proposes 'Agritainment,' viewing interaction with agriculture and food as entertainment. We aim to implement and expand new experiences that connect 'agriculture' and 'people' in society by utilizing technology."

Haru Takagishi, Representative Director, CLASS EARTH Inc.

"Expos and horticultural expositions are places where children can experience the world and discover biodiversity initiatives in various countries. We will implement a project where children are the main actors, not just experiencing what adults have prepared, but actively disseminating their own messages to the world."

It was also announced that Shotaro Ohara, Representative Director of the General Incorporated Association the Organic and Ministry of the Environment Satoyama Satoumi Ambassador, will participate as an advisor leading this project.

## Food Security Crisis due to Climate Change and Transition to "Nature Positive"

During the panel discussion, the critical situation of "food security," directly linked to recent supply chains, was reported. Taking the Nanko plums of Wakayama as an example, the discussion highlighted a situation where yields decreased by 80% due due to shifted pollination timing caused by warm winters and insufficient rain, as well as the limitations of fossil fuel-dependent agriculture, such as soaring prices for agricultural materials due to emergencies and high oil prices.

Mr. Ohara referred to the government's "strategy to expand organic farming to 25% by 2050" and proposed the importance of "mitigation" to reduce greenhouse gases and "adaptation" to cope with environmental changes. He further emphasized that achieving "nature-positive," which not only preserves but also enhances damaged environments, requires a long-term plan spanning decades, and questioned whether "our adult generation can create the best baton and pass it on to the next generation." He highly praised this project, where children will disseminate messages through their experience of growing crops at Earth Saver Farm, as "a very important initiative in the new stage of creating the Earth."

## "New Food and Agriculture Education" Utilizing IoT × AI

Mr. Serizawa pointed out the current situation where many of Japan's vegetable seeds depend on overseas imports. He explained that by cross-breeding seeds for about three generations in urban farms, they can become localized like "Otemachi vegetables," which leads to a future food culture resilient to climate change (diversification of seeds).

Supporting this is Plantio's world-exclusive IoT sensor, "Glow Connect."

It acquires six types of data: soil temperature and moisture, outside air temperature, outside humidity, sunlight, and an image sensor (camera), digitally recording vegetable cultivation that previously relied on intuition and experience. This enables inquiry-based learning to unravel "why it withered" and "why it grew" from data, and also allows for digital copying (library creation) of cultivation data from successful growers using AI calculations.

A new agritech education model, optimized for digital-native children, was presented.
