The adult entertainment planetarium facility "Konica Minolta Planetaria TOKYO" (Yurakucho, Tokyo) has announced that the currently screening special program "Immersive Planetarium - Monet" will be extended until Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Claude Monet is a representative painter of Impressionism. This work is an immersive program where you can experience the "changing of light" that he painted throughout his life on the omnidirectional dome of the planetarium. Supervised by Claude Monet researcher Hiroo Yasui. What did Monet love, what did he gaze at, and how did he leave light on the canvas? We will introduce Monet's life journey with commentary alongside numerous masterpieces.

A "New Dimension Immersive Experience" depicting the world Monet saw

The most prominent feature of "Immersive Planetarium - Monet" is an unprecedented "new dimension immersive experience." In this work, numerous masterpieces, including the globally popular "Water Lilies" series and "Impression, Sunrise," are presented with extended expressions going "outside the canvas" using the latest AI technology. Monet's brushstrokes and vivid colors spread across the entire dome. The world that was originally confined within a square frame is unleashed across the walls and even overhead, allowing the viewer to literally witness "the world Monet saw."

DOME1 at Planetaria TOKYO, the venue for the event, is a special planetarium where images cover everything from the ceiling to the walls. With projection that wraps around the entire 15m diameter dome, the entire field of vision is dyed in Monet's colors, creating a one-of-a-kind immersive space.
