## Press Release Information Title: From Planet Vol. 243 Subtitle: Company Name: Planet Corporation Industry: Body (First 8000 characters): *Response rates (%) are rounded to the second decimal place and displayed up to the first decimal place. Therefore, the sum of the breakdown may differ from the displayed value. 1 in 4 People Receive Delivery Packages Once a Week or More This time, we conducted an awareness survey on delivery services. (Previous surveys were conducted in 2022 as Vol. 187, and in 2017 as Vol. 61.) When asked about the frequency of receiving delivery packages (Figure 1), the highest percentage was "2-3 times a month" (25.9%). Combining "Once a week" (13.7%), "2-3 times a week" (7.9%), "4-5 times a week" (1.5%), and "Almost daily" (1.2%), the rate of receiving packages once a week or more reached 24.3%, meaning nearly 1 in 4 people. In the 2017 survey, "2-3 times a month" was 30.6% and "Once a week" was 14.5%, with a weekly or more rate of 24.6%. While this is nearly unchanged compared to the current survey, it shows a slight decrease compared to the 2022 survey (weekly or more: 28.8%). The 2022 survey was conducted during a period strongly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is believed that the surge in online shopping due to self-restraint measures led to this rebound effect. Delivery Service Usage Scenarios? When asked about the situations in which delivery services are used (Figure 2) with multiple responses allowed, "When purchasing from internet/mail order" accounted for the top share at 69.2%. This was followed by "When purchasing heavy or large items" (24.6%), "When purchasing home appliances" (20.0%), and "Shipping items from online auctions/flea market apps" (19.5%). Notably, in the previous survey in 2022, "When purchasing from internet/mail order" was 88.2%. Perhaps due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the usage of internet/mail order itself may have decreased compared to that period. On the other hand, "Shipping items from online auctions/flea market apps" slightly increased from 17.7% to 19.5%, and "Mid-year gifts/year-end gifts" decreased from 26.4% to 18.4%, indicating a transformation in lifestyles and culture reflected in the numbers. Generational Differences in Awareness of Redelivery? When asked if users are aware of the effort and cost involved in delivery (distance, redelivery) when using online shopping, 71.4% responded "Aware." In the 2017 survey, "Aware" was 64.3%, and in the 2022 survey, it was 68.0%, showing an upward trend year by year. Furthermore, looking at age groups, younger individuals tend to have a lower percentage of "Aware." However, when asked if they have a delivery box at home (Figure 4), a higher percentage of younger individuals answered "Yes." Therefore, it is possible that because they have measures to prevent the need for redelivery, they do not pay particular attention to it. How Do You Receive Deliveries? When asked how delivery packages are received (Figure 5), "Leave at the front door or similar location" was chosen by 47.7%, making it the second most common method after "Receiving in person at the entrance, etc." (74.8%). The proportion of people using non-contact methods like leaving packages or using delivery boxes differs by gender and age group (Figure 6). The proportion of those choosing non-contact methods is higher among younger age groups, and also tends to be higher among women compared to men. This response is for times other than when absent, suggesting reasons such as feeling more secure or not having to be considerate when using non-contact methods compared to in-person delivery. Do You Check Delivery Schedules? When asked if they check the arrival schedule on web pages or apps when a delivery is expected, 62.9% responded "Frequently check," 25.3% "Rarely check," and 11.8% "Never checked." In the 2022 survey, "Frequently check" was 62.0%, which is at a similar level, indicating that a certain segment of the population regularly uses this feature. Additionally, this survey also asked about smartphone usage, and those who "use smartphones"...
