Plan・Do・See Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) will open a luxury hotel, tentatively named "The Sayan Terrace," in the Ubud area of Bali, Indonesia, in 2028.
This project marks a new milestone for Plan・Do・See, building upon the business foundation of Plan・Do・See Indonesia, which has fostered relationships with the local community through restaurants, villas, and dining centered on Japanese food culture since its expansion into Bali in 2014. It will be the first time Plan・Do・See independently handles all aspects of a hotel project overseas, from investment and development to operation.
The site is a villa estate in the Sayan Valley, once cherished as a creative base by landscape designer Made Wijaya, who popularized "Balinese magic" worldwide. Plan・Do・See will inherit this location, loved by Wijaya, who influenced Balinese resort culture and landscape development, and transform it into a hotel for the next era, creating a stay experience that connects the land's nature, culture, and accumulated time to the future.
SUPER POTATO, a world-renowned spatial design firm with villas in Ubud and a portfolio of numerous projects across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, will be responsible for the spatial design.
Plan・Do・See's 14-Year Journey in Indonesia and a New Milestone
Since expanding into Indonesia in 2014, Plan・Do・See has developed restaurants, villas, and dining establishments focused on Japanese food culture, while deeply respecting local culture, nature, and people's lives, nurturing experiential value that leverages the unique charm of each location. The journey of Plan・Do・See Indonesia has been about building trust and accumulating rooted businesses while growing with the community, rather than solely aiming for business expansion.
The knowledge and network cultivated through gastronomy, bars, and accommodation businesses that have been loved by locals and travelers worldwide, meticulously weaving together the charm of the land, will all be brought together to create "The Sayan Terrace," opening in 2028, as the next chapter for Plan・Do・See Indonesia.
This project will be Plan・Do・See's first hotel project overseas where it will consistently handle investment, development, and operation. Based on the trust built with the community over approximately 14 years and a deep understanding of the land, we will pass on the unique value of the Sayan Valley to the future and deliver new stay experiences to travelers worldwide.
The Sayan Valley, Cherished by "Balinese Magic" Pioneer Made Wijaya – Inheriting the Land's Memory for the Future
"The Sayan Terrace" will be born in the Sayan Valley, an area within Ubud where rich nature remains vibrant.
This place was a special location where Made Wijaya, who designed numerous Asian resorts in Bali and worldwide and spread local landscape design globally, nurtured his creative inspiration and cherished as his own villa estate.
Plan・Do・See will inherit the nature, culture, and accumulated time nurtured by this land and pass on its value to the next generation as a luxury hotel for a new era.
Spatial Design by SUPER POTATO, Connecting the Land's Value to the Future
SUPER POTATO, a world-renowned spatial design firm with villas in Ubud and a portfolio of numerous projects across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, will be responsible for the spatial design. Founder Takashi Sugimoto had a deep affection for Ubud during his lifetime, owning a villa there and visiting frequently for art and crafts, demonstrating a profound understanding of the land's culture, nature, and aesthetic sensibilities.
In this project, SUPER POTATO, carrying on that philosophy, will carefully interpret the majestic nature of the Sayan Valley and the land's memories cherished by Made Wijaya, maximizing the appeal of natural materials such as wood, stone, and earth to create a timeless modern luxury space.

A Stay Experience Facing the Sayan Valley with All 44 Rooms as Suites
"The Sayan Terrace" will offer a stay experience where each guest can deeply immerse themselves in the nature and tranquility of the Sayan Valley, with all 44 rooms designed as spacious suites.
The rooms will be available in six types, including the "Duplex Suite With Private Onsen" equipped with a private pool and sauna, the "Deluxe Suite" for a close connection with Ubud's nature, and the "Corner Suite" and "The Sayan Terrace Suite" offering panoramic views of the valley.
The hotel will feature a "Thermal Spring" wellness facility integrated with nature, a pool overlooking the valley, a library, and a gym. The main dining and bar lounge will offer Plan・Do・See's unique culinary experiences, drawing on over 10 years of expertise cultivated at "The Sayan House" and experience in modernly curating Japanese cuisine such as sushi and Japanese tea in Jakarta and Bali.
The Business Foundation Nurtured by Plan・Do・See Indonesia
"The Sayan Terrace" is not just a single hotel project.
It is born from the extension of Plan・Do・See Indonesia's approximately 14-year journey since its expansion in 2014, building trust with the community through diverse businesses such as restaurants, bars, accommodation, and dining centered on Japanese food culture, and nurturing the unique charm of the land.
It leads to the overseas-first integrated investment, development, and operation hotel project "The Sayan Terrace," by bringing together the knowledge, network, and hospitality cultivated in each business loved by locals and travelers worldwide.
The following are the main businesses operated by Plan・Do・See Indonesia in Bali and Jakarta.
The Sayan House (Bali)
The origin of Plan・Do・See Indonesia and a representative icon of Ubud, this restaurant.
With a concept of "Japanese x Latin fusion," it offers dishes and cocktails that creatively fuse delicate Japanese cooking techniques and flavors with the energetic and spicy flavors of South America (Latin). Located with a view of the majestic Ayung River valley and deep jungle, the view from the "Sunset Bar," which offers a prime seat to watch the sky and greenery change expression in the evening, has been loved by many guests both domestically and internationally.

While incorporating traditional local architectural styles, they pursue modern comfort and livability. Stepping inside, you enter a space where only the chirping of birds and the sound of the wind can be heard, a hideaway where Plan・Do・See's attention to detail and craftsmanship reside in every corner.
Number of rooms: 3 villas in total
Room types: 2-bedroom villa, panoramic suite, valley suite

Hakkoku Bali (Bali)
A new frontier born in Bali, inheriting the DNA of the cutting-edge sushi restaurant "Hakkoku" in Ginza, Tokyo. It proposes a new food culture called "Bali-mae Sushi," where local Balinese artisans use their unique sensibility to craft sushi using fresh seafood caught in the waters around Bali and abundant Indonesian ingredients. It is a gourmet experience unique to this place, where Japanese traditional techniques and southern bounty beautifully intersect.

Shikaku Jakarta | Bar Kotak (Jakarta)
An authentic Japanese restaurant and bar located within "The Dharmawangsa Jakarta," a classic hotel of the highest caliber in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. While blending into the hotel's sophisticated colonial-Javanese style space, it offers refined Japanese cuisine expressing the flavors of each season and carefully selected fine wines. It is highly regarded as a social venue for local celebrities and international business travelers.

ISSEN Tea Bar (Jakarta)
A tea bar created under the production of "Sakurai Tea Laboratory," which has established its unique style in Omotesando, Tokyo. Based on traditional Japanese tea culture, it roasts and blends carefully selected Japanese teas and rare local Indonesian tea leaves using original techniques. It offers conceptual experiences that expand the concept of tea, such as tea courses to enjoy tea with all five senses and original "tea cocktails" incorporating tea.
ENKAKU by SHIKAKU (Jakarta | New Opening)
A casual yakitori dining establishment produced by the authentic Japanese restaurant "Shikaku Jakarta." Born from the desire to offer sophisticated and delicious Japanese food in a relaxing and comfortable space to both Indonesians and Japanese residents, it is quickly gaining attention locally as a new culinary hub that can be widely used for various everyday occasions.
