Pixie Dust Technologies, Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Yoichi Ochiai and Taiichiro Murakami; hereinafter "PxDT") has installed the "VUEVO Display" real-time translation subtitle display at the information counters of the "Marunouchi Building" and "Shin-Marunouchi Building," which are operated and managed by Mitsubishi Jisho Property Management Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hitoshi Kubo; hereinafter "MJPM"), and has commenced operational verification for multilingual and subtitle-supported services.
This initiative aims to realize seamless face-to-face communication that transcends language and hearing barriers in the Marunouchi area, a leading business and commercial hub in Japan, while verifying the multilingual and universal design capabilities of the reception functions.
Background of the Operational Trial: "Omotenashi" (Hospitality) and DX for a Diversifying Visitor Base As iconic facilities in the Marunouchi area, the Marunouchi Building and Shin-Marunouchi Building attract a wide range of visitors, including office workers, domestic and international tourists, and local residents. The information counters at both facilities handle daily inquiries regarding building navigation and surrounding facilities.
With the recent rapid increase in foreign visitors to Japan, there is a growing need for "multilingual guidance," as well as the importance of "hearing-accessible information provision" for individuals with disabilities and the elderly. The challenge has been how to convey information efficiently and accurately while maintaining the quality of face-to-face customer service. Given this background, the trial will verify the operational feasibility of "VUEVO Display," which utilizes PxDT's proprietary technology.
Implementation Details: Multilingual Support with a "Face-to-Face" Transparent Display In this initiative, VUEVO Display will be utilized in actual information operations to verify its contribution to facilitating communication with visitors and reducing the workload of staff.
<Benefits of using VUEVO Display> ・Face-to-face guidance while maintaining eye contact Because it uses a transparent display, unlike conventional tablet translators, it allows for conversation while looking at the other person's facial expressions, without compromising the quality of "omotenashi."
・Real-time visual information provision Since conversation content is instantly subtitled and translated, it ensures accurate information delivery even in environments where hearing is difficult or in situations where languages are not mutually understood.
<Points to be verified in this demonstration test> - Accuracy and speed of multilingual support: Facilitation of guidance operations through real-time translation functions. - Improvement of accessibility: Effectiveness for visitors who require hearing support through subtitle display. - Changes in staff workload: Reduction of psychological hurdles for foreign language support and optimization of customer service time. - Ease of installation in facility operations: Utility of the device in existing counter environments.
Future Outlook Based on the insights gained through this demonstration test, PxDT will accelerate the development of accessible communication environments in "local exchange hubs" where diverse people gather, such as tourist destinations, public facilities, lodging facilities, and public transportation. We will strongly promote the social implementation of VUEVO to enhance the value of regional tourism, revitalize local communities, and realize a society where everyone can access information.
About "VUEVO Display" "VUEVO Display" combines the technology cultivated through "VUEVO" with multilingual translation functions and a transparent display, allowing conversation subtitles to be displayed on both sides of the transparent display in real-time. Whether in conversations with the hearing impaired/hard of hearing or in foreign language conversations, it enables natural face-to-face communication while observing the other party's gestures and expressions. https://vuevo.net/display
About Pixie Dust Technologies, Inc. Pixie Dust Technologies aims for the arrival of "Digital Nature," where computers and non-computers are inseparable, and where we cyclically transcend binary oppositions such as language and phenomena, or analog and digital, by fusing computer science with proprietary wave control technology that freely manipulates sound and light. We are currently focusing our product development on two main areas: the "Healthcare & Diversity" domain, which uses wave control technology for mechanobiology and intervention/assistance for vision, hearing, and touch; and the "Workspace & Digital Transformation" domain, which applies metamaterials (technology that creates characteristics through structure rather than material) and solutions for issues in offices and construction sites. While computers are evolving rapidly, the evolution of our biological bodies (hardware) is very slow, and the gap is widening. Pixie Dust Technologies successfully mediates between the two and continues to create better value for life.
