Fuchu City and Neighborhood Associations Launch Information Dissemination and Exchange Promotion Support; Fuchu City Area Opens on May 7th in Local Community App "Piazza"

PIAZZA Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and CEO: Kohei Yano, hereinafter PIAZZA), which operates the local community app "Piazza," has concluded a collaborative agreement with Fuchu City, Tokyo (Mayor: Ritsuo Takano), and the Fuchu City Neighborhood Association Federation (Chairman: Noritsugu Yamaoka) to support information dissemination by neighborhood associations and other local activities, aiming to revitalize local community activities. As a result, the "Fuchu City Area" on Piazza will open on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

This initiative aims to promote information dissemination and local exchange for community activities within Fuchu City, including neighborhood associations, and to build a multi-generational local platform that connects people.

This marks the 15th introduction of Piazza by a local government in Tokyo and the 79th nationwide. Furthermore, this agreement is the second time PIAZZA has signed an agreement with a neighborhood association directly.

◼︎Background of Collaboration

Fuchu City has faced concerns about weakening community ties due to the increase in nuclear families and diversified lifestyles, leading to a decline in neighborhood association membership rates, a shortage of neighborhood association executives and operators, and a decrease in the sustainability of activities due to an aging population. The revitalization of the community through increasing the membership rate of the next generation in neighborhood associations has become a key challenge.

"Piazza" is a local platform designed to form loose connections among residents, allowing anyone to freely disseminate and exchange local information. It can also be used for anonymous questions about the community and the exchange of unwanted items, fostering loose "connections" among citizens. By continuously disseminating information about neighborhood associations and local activities to citizens, PIAZZA will support information sharing to promote understanding among households not yet members of neighborhood associations, encourage membership, and spark interest and participation in local activities. This led to the collaborative agreement with Fuchu City and the Fuchu City Neighborhood Association Federation.

With a mission to "create towns where people can support each other," PIAZZA collaborates with 78 local governments nationwide and operates the local community app "Piazza" in over 110 areas. We are committed to supporting local community revitalization by combining digital and real-world efforts, contributing to sustainable urban development.

In Fuchu City, we have recognized the weakening of community ties and the decline in neighborhood association membership rates as challenges and have worked to revitalize local communities, including improving neighborhood association membership rates. In this context, this collaborative agreement with PIAZZA Co., Ltd. and the Fuchu City Neighborhood Association Federation, triggered by a proposal to our city's collaboration and co-creation window, is a crucial initiative to support information dissemination and exchange for local activities, including neighborhood associations, and to revitalize the local community. Through this initiative based on the agreement, we expect to expand opportunities for accessing information on local activities using digital technology, fostering loose connections across generations and positions, increasing understanding and interest in neighborhood association activities, and providing an impetus for each citizen to become interested and participate in the community. Going forward, we will continue to work hand-in-hand with local residents to realize a supportive community through citizen collaboration.

Neighborhood associations are central organizations within local communities, working in cooperation with the administration to conduct various activities and aim to create safe, secure, comfortable, and livable local communities. However, changes in lifestyles and diversification of values have revealed challenges surrounding neighborhood associations. One such challenge is the delay in digitalization. Neighborhood associations are promoting digitalization with the administration to further revitalize local communities. For this purpose, we have been considering a community app that is easy for anyone to use, safe, and inexpensive. This time, PIAZZA Co., Ltd. presented a proposal that met these requirements. We hope that the expansion of the local community app "Piazza" will contribute to the revitalization of local communities.

We feel great significance in being able to collaborate in the form of a tripartite agreement, not only with a local government but also with a federation of neighborhood associations. Throughout Japan, neighborhood associations, which are the bearers of local communities, face challenges such as declining membership rates and an aging leadership. However, the value of neighborhood association activities itself still exists, and it is crucial to convey their appeal and information to diverse generations. Through Piazza, we aim to visualize the daily activities of neighborhood associations and deliver them to residents who are not yet participating, creating an opportunity to move from "knowing" to "engaging." We will not confine ourselves solely to the power of digital, but will work with Fuchu City and the Neighborhood Association Federation.
