PHONE APPLI Inc., which aims to upgrade every company into a well-being company, announced that on May 14, 2026, it added its proprietary well-being survey function, the Well-being Company Survey, to its management support tool Ma ejaS. The feature is scheduled to be rolled out gradually to existing customer environments from May 18, 2026. Well-being surveys are generally used to understand individuals’ subjective happiness and current state. PHONE APPLI’s Well-being Company Survey, which the company has practiced internally and offered to customers, is based on insights from happiness-oriented management studies. It focuses on questions aligned with three factors that influence well-being in the context of work: vitality, freedom, and growth. By providing the survey within Ma ejaS, the company aims to deliver an experience that improves the clarity of management decisions and workplace dialogue by capturing both organizational issues and individual happiness. Ma ejaS already includes an engagement survey as an initial feature. Engagement surveys, which measure attachment to the company and willingness to contribute, have become widely used to quantify organizational issues and connect them to improvement measures. At the same time, many workplaces report that employees have little room in their busy routines to reflect on their own condition or create opportunities for dialogue. Relying only on engagement surveys can create gaps with individual feelings and make it harder to identify the direction for improvement. PHONE APPLI believes it is important to create a mechanism that helps working individuals notice their current state, verbalize the background through dialogue with managers and teams, and deepen mutual understanding, ultimately improving engagement across the organization. For this reason, the company decided to add the Well-being Company Survey, previously offered as a standalone service, to Ma ejaS alongside the engagement survey. The survey was developed by PHONE APPLI in 2020 with the cooperation of Shiro Tenga and Takashi Maeno, based on insights from happiness-oriented management studies. It focuses on 12 questions aligned with the three factors that affect well-being in the work context, measures responses on a seven-point scale, and includes free-text questions to supplement respondents’ situations and feelings. This design reduces the burden of answering and operation, making it suitable for short-cycle fixed-point observation. By regularly answering questions about their happiness at work, employees are encouraged to reflect on changes and fluctuations in their own condition. Dialogue with managers and team members based on this reflection is intended to enable management decisions and actions grounded in deeper mutual understanding. Ma ejaS enables the use of two surveys with different roles: an engagement survey that structurally captures organizational issues and connects them to action, and the Well-being Company Survey that faces individual states, captures fluctuations in happiness, and expands dialogue. By combining quantitative understanding, identification of care themes and issues, and dialogue-based understanding, Ma ejaS supports management with greater clarity for subsequent decisions and actions. The combined data on engagement and well-being also supports HR departments in prioritizing personnel measures and allocating resources. In addition, score trends and response patterns can help detect early signs of risks such as poor condition or turnover, ensuring that people who need follow-up are not overlooked and can receive dialogue and support at the right time. PHONE APPLI has been selected as a finalist in all three categories of the Well-being Awards 2026: Products and Services, Activities and Actions, and Organizations and Teams. The company says it will continue supporting organizational management that aims for well-being-oriented work styles by expanding the use of Ma ejaS, while further evolving the product under Ma ejaS’s vision of realizing supportive management. Ma ejaS is a cloud service that visualizes recognition gaps between managers and members as well as organizational issues amid increasingly complex management work, and supports the process through to concrete action proposals. By using multifaceted data such as engagement surveys, personality tendency assessments, and management feedback, it helps realize optimal management tailored to workplace conditions and individual characteristics. This reduces managers’ workload, encourages behavioral change in teams, and contributes to talent development and higher organizational engagement.
