Survey Background

In recent years, while grooming has become a popular profession for those who want to turn their passion into a career, significant physical and mental burdens, as well as challenges in working conditions, have become apparent in the field. In fact, "Groomer Agent," a specialized job placement agency for groomers, receives many consultations regarding on-site issues such as "I want to make them look cuter, but I don't have enough time" and "The physical strain is immense, and I'm worried if I can continue this long-term." In particular, there has been an increasing trend in転職相談 (job change consultations) due to challenges in working styles, such as the burden of speed trimming that emphasizes high turnover rates, and the ambiguity of roles due to concurrent nursing duties in animal hospitals. Against this backdrop, this survey analyzed the reasons why groomers decided to change jobs based on consultation data received by "Groomer Agent" in 2025.

The most common reasons were the gap between the groomer's ideal vision and the actual work on-site, as well as the desire for technical improvement. Challenges cited include the inability to dedicate sufficient time to each animal in a work environment that prioritizes turnover rate, and a lack of opportunities for skill acquisition due to task specialization. There is a strong inclination to pursue "cuts that bring out the charm of each animal" rather than mere task completion, leading to an increase in job changes to environments where they can exercise greater expertise.
