For over a decade, TABOO has been seen as an important gateway for many lesbians to enter nightlife and meet peers for the first time, and has been listed multiple times by domestic and international LGBTQ and travel guides as one of the representative spots for lesbian nightlife in Taipei. Vic, whose real name is Cai Yizhen, founded the lesbian nightclub and LGBT entertainment brand TABOO in 2008. In the absence of resources and precedents, she gradually built a nightlife space centered on a 'sense of security' and 'community connection' in the city's underground spaces. In addition to cultivating Taipei for a long time, TABOO has also stepped out of Taiwan, organizing events in Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, etc., trying to practice gender-friendliness and community support in different cultural contexts.
