Persol Career Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and led by Representative Director and President Yu Senoo, operates the job change service "doda". The company conducted a survey on the average age of business professionals who successfully changed jobs using the "doda" agent service between January and December 2025. The survey revealed that the overall average age of job changers in 2025 was 32.9 years old. This represents a 0.2-year increase compared to the 2024 survey and marks the third consecutive year of increase since the survey began in 2022. Broken down by gender, the average age for males was 33.8 years old, and for females, it was 31.4 years old. Both figures also showed a 0.2-year increase from 2024, mirroring the overall trend of three consecutive years of rising average age. Regarding age distribution, the proportion of job changers aged "24 or younger" increased to 11.6%, a 2.5 percentage point rise from 2022. The proportion of those aged "40 or older" also saw a significant increase to 17.5%, up 3.6 percentage points from 2022. The most frequent age group for job changes remained the late 20s, followed by the early 30s. By profession, "Consultant/Real Estate Professional" recorded the highest average job change age at 37.0 years old. This was followed by "Planning/Management" at 35.6 years old and "Financial Professional" at 35.1 years old. These professions have seen their average job change ages increase by 1.1 to 2.7 years since 2022, notably having a higher proportion of job changers aged 40 or older. Conversely, "Sales/Service" had the lowest average job change age at 30.8 years old, with a high representation of individuals in their 20s. These findings indicate trends where professions valuing accumulated expertise and experience see job changes across a wider age range, while others show active job changes in earlier career stages.
