Peace Boat's voyages celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2023. Practicing "face-to-face international exchange," over 100,000 passengers and more than 1,000 volunteer interpreters have sailed with us to date. Whether you have interpreting experience, are undergoing interpreter training, or are proficient in two languages without prior interpreting experience, as a volunteer interpreter, you will gain experiences and achievements equivalent to studying abroad, overseas internships, or intensive practical interpreter training during the 3.5-month voyage.
Peace Boat conducts three round-the-world voyages annually, each lasting approximately 100 days. Each voyage visits ports around the world, where programs such as exchanges with local NGOs and sightseeing are conducted. Onboard (at sea), diverse guests from around the world are invited to conduct lectures, workshops, and seminars on themes such as cultural exchange, international understanding, and examination of social issues.
We are recruiting "volunteer interpreters" to utilize their language skills to connect Peace Boat participants with local people and guests from various regions, both in port and onboard. Volunteers who actually participate in the cruise will be issued a volunteer (or intern) certificate.
