Japan PBSS Hosts 1st Webinar on 'AI x Drug Discovery'

The Japan Pharmaceutical & BioScience Society (Japan PBSS) hosted its inaugural webinar, inviting Associate Professor James Zou from Stanford University to speak on the intersection of AI and drug discovery research. The lecture introduced two key initiatives from Prof. Zou's research group: 'Virtual Lab,' where LLM-powered AI agents collaborate with human researchers on nanobody design, and 'Virtual Biotech,' which simulates corporate roles with AI agents to support clinical data analysis and risk evaluation. The session emphasized AI's role as a partner that expands the speed and scope of human research rather than replacing it. Japan PBSS plans to continue providing opportunities for knowledge sharing in the bioscience field.
