Why PSMR was Launched
In recent years, analysis utilizing people flow data has become widespread. However, people flow data only reveals "where people were," and does not capture decision-making such as "where they intended to go" or "under what conditions they searched for parking."
PSMR aims to provide new mobility insights by visualizing the act of "searching for parking" itself through the analysis of nationwide parking search data accumulated in P-Collection.
Main Analysis Content of Vol.1
Vol.1, released this time, includes the following themes:
May 2026 Nationwide Parking Search Volume
Changes in Search Distance (Domestic Searches)
Analysis of Regional Search Demand
Golden Week Feature
Consumer Behavior Interpreted from Parking Search Data
Future Analysis Themes
Key Trends Observed in Vol.1
The report confirmed the following characteristics:
Search volume in May 2026 was 7,918 cases. The median search distance in domestic searches shortened from 4.30 km to 2.79 km. Searches for "cheapest first" accounted for approximately 60%, indicating a continued emphasis on price. Significant differences in search demand were observed by region. During the GW period, short-distance searches and planned search behavior increased.
These analysis results can potentially be utilized in decision-making for local governments, parking operators, tourism DMOs, and commercial facilities.
Preview of Next Issue
PSMR Vol.2 is scheduled to feature "Changes in Parking Search Behavior During the Rainy Season."
It is planned to analyze and publish:
Whether search distance shortens on rainy days. Impact of rain by region. Search behavior by time of day. Changes in search conditions.
How to Obtain the Report
PSMR Vol.1 is provided free of charge.

Future Developments
Parking Science will publish PSMR monthly, continuously analyzing and releasing parking search behavior in response to seasonal changes, events, and societal shifts.
Furthermore, the insights gained from PSMR will be applied to improve the functionality of "Park-Labo," an area marketing analysis system for parking operators, and the free parking search app "P-Collection," as well as to collaborate with local governments and the tourism sector, aiming to realize a better mobility society based on data.
