1. '150 yen or more' is the most common price for regular gasoline felt to be expensive, with changes in price perception.
The price of regular gasoline per liter felt to be expensive was most commonly '150 yen or more' at 36%, followed by '160 yen or more' at 22%, and '140 yen or more' at 15%. Compared to last year, when 30% considered 170 to 200 yen or more to be expensive, this year the figure dropped significantly to 14%, while the number of people who consider 140 to 160 yen or more to be expensive has increased. The abolition of the provisional tax rate has caused gasoline prices to settle, resulting in a visible change in consumers' price perception (Survey period: March 2, 2026 - March 10, 2026).
Looking at the trends over the past 10 years by the year the survey was conducted, '130 yen or more' was the most common in 2016, '140 yen or more' in 2019, and '150 yen or more' from 2022 onwards, indicating that the price perceived as expensive continued to rise along with the rise in gasoline prices. Although '150 yen or more' was the most common this time as well, responses were distributed to lower price ranges than last year, suggesting that the gasoline price felt to be expensive, which had been continuously rising, is beginning to drop slightly.
2. About 80% of people who use cars every day use them even when gasoline prices soar.
