PARCO Co., Ltd. and Kodansha Co., Ltd. have launched a joint project, 'Shibuya Spain-zaka Studio,' to create and nurture intellectual properties (IPs). This project combines Kodansha's editorial capability and writer relations with PARCO's retail, event, and exhibition development capabilities to expand stories from reading experiences to interactive exhibitions and merchandising. Both companies previously collaborated on the 'AKIRA ART WALL' in 2019 and a Masamune Shirow exhibition. As the first phase, they will launch a new manga magazine printed on paper, providing a creative space for artists. They will also hold exhibitions and events showcasing the worlds and production processes of manga creators to reach diverse culture groups. Additionally, they will develop daily-use merchandise and pursue media mix developments such as videos and games to foster the IPs. A manga submission event will be held in early August at Shibuya PARCO. Daisuke Kobayashi, Executive Officer of PARCO, expressed his enthusiasm for launching the project to broadcast local stories to the world.
