Paraca Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: So Naito; hereinafter referred to as "our company"), which operates parking lot businesses nationwide, has acquired a portion of the forest land (approximately 122 hectares) located in "Sandankyo," a nationally designated special scenic spot in Akitato-cho, Yamagata-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture, from Nisshin Forestry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Naka-ku, Hiroshima City; Representative Director: Yasuharu Kake; hereinafter referred to as "Nisshin Forestry").
This initiative further expands our company's forest conservation efforts in Hiroshima Prefecture, aiming to contribute to the preservation of Sandankyo's rich natural environment and cultural value, as well as to sustainable development through collaboration with the local community.
Nisshin Forestry also owns forest land within Sandankyo other than what our company has acquired this time. Moving forward, our company will cooperate and collaborate with Nisshin Forestry to enhance the appeal of Sandankyo and contribute to the revitalization of the entire region.

■ Our Company's Forest Conservation Initiatives
To date, our company has acquired and holds over 600 hectares of vast forest land in Hiroshima Prefecture, actively promoting conservation activities and other initiatives, with the goal of realizing a sustainable society.
The background to promoting such initiatives lies in the structural challenges facing Japanese forests today. Forest ownership in Japan is small-scale and fragmented, with individuals owning very small plots of land. Amidst the widespread use of imported timber and continuously declining domestic timber prices, small-scale, fragmented ownership has become unprofitable, leading to many instances of forests being left unmanaged or unharvested.
Our company has addressed the above issues by consolidating forests owned by different owners, thereby contributing to local forestry, preventing natural disasters, and expanding CO2 absorption, thus promoting the public functions of forests. The acquisition in this case further expands these efforts.

■ The Appeal and Value of "Sandankyo," a Special Scenic Spot
"Sandankyo," where the newly acquired forest land is located, is a gorge stretching approximately 16 km along the upper reaches of the Ota River in northwestern Hiroshima Prefecture. Its pristine virgin forests and clear streams create a valley beauty that is considered one of the finest in Western Japan, attracting many people with its four-season scenery, including sheer cliffs and dynamic waterfalls.
Recognized for this unparalleled landscape, it has been designated a "Special Scenic Spot" under the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties, signifying exceptionally high value among nationally designated monuments. Special Scenic Spots are extremely rare and important natural heritage sites, with only 36 existing nationwide.
Our company has undertaken this acquisition as part of our ongoing forest conservation and regional contribution activities to pass on this precious natural environment, a pride of Japan, to the next generation.
