Food Drive Without Surplus Food: Ordering Donated Items with 10-Session Subscription Starting June 1st (Kanagawa)

Pal System Kanagawa (Headquarters: Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Chairperson: Junko Fujita) will begin accepting orders for the "Omoiyari Set" on Monday, June 1st, allowing members to purchase Pal System original products for 500 yen to donate to food banks. The set includes items such as spaghetti, pre-packaged rice, and seasonings, which are then provided to support organizations and facilities.

For 500 yen (tax included), customers can donate Pal System original products such as "Sanchoku Rice (Akita Komachi)," "Sanchoku Wheat Udon," and "Usakeru Curry (flake type)." These items are selected based on their popularity in children's cafeterias, sourced from producers with direct partnerships with Pal System.

This system was created in response to member requests to participate in "food drives"—where people donate unused household food—even when they do not have surplus food on hand. In addition to one-time donations, members can opt for a subscription-based service, registering for 10 sessions to donate monthly. Pal System Kanagawa combines products based on total order volume and donates them as food drive items.

The products are handed over to Food Bank Kanagawa (Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama; Representative Directors: Shinichi Togu, Katsumi Hayashi), a public interest incorporated association established and operated by 12 organizations including Pal System Kanagawa and local cooperatives. The food is then distributed to organizations supporting those in need and children's cafeterias.

Over 25,000 orders and approx. 11 tons in FY2025

Orders for the "Omoiyari Set" began in 2022. In 2024, the organization registered for the "Future Support Action" promoted by the prefecture. This mechanism allows for donations to the prefecture or designated NPOs based on sales of registered donation-linked products and services.

In fiscal 2025, the organization received 25,051 orders, donated approximately 11 tons of food, and contributed 182,650 yen to the "Future Support Action." The funds are used by the NPO Second League Kanagawa (Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Chairperson: Kaoru Rokkaku), which works on regional issues such as child-rearing and life support, to cover transportation costs for donated food to children's cafeterias and support groups.

Pal System Kanagawa remains committed to valuing connections with local government and regional organizations, aiming to build a community where no one is left behind, together with its members.
