Brillia Short Shorts Theater Online (hereinafter BSSTO), an online theater specializing in short films operated by Visualvoice Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku; Representative Director: Tetsuya Bessho), is launching a special feature titled “FOOLISH APRIL - The Liars of April” for the month of April, which begins with April Fools' Day. The feature will stream five short films where lies serve as the keyword for unfolding heart-shaking dramas.

Sometimes we lie to make ourselves look better, and sometimes we lie to protect someone. This feature collects short films that vividly capture these foolish, yet endearing, aspects of humanity.

April Fools' pranks, bravado to make oneself seem more important, and the clumsy pride that leads us to deceive even ourselves. In this feature, we have carefully selected five short films that capture these “foolish” yet undeniably lovable human figures.

“Intermission” (France), where a trivial lie at a movie theater unexpectedly opens the door to adulthood; “Someone Special” (France), which depicts the bittersweet, relatable struggle of whether love and lies go hand-in-hand; “Last Lie” (Japan), an irreversible crime scene where one lie begets another; “Set Menu” (Australia), a mysterious restaurant drama of deception; and “Somebody Else” (China), a poignant love story led by a one-night lie.

Inheriting the brand of the short film specialty cinema “Brillia Short Shorts Theater,” which operated in Minatomirai, Yokohama from February 2008 to December 2017, it launched in February 2018.
