The Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum, located in Minato-no-Mieru-Oka Park in Naka-ku, Yokohama, is currently hosting the exhibition 'People of the Sengoku Period: Two Hideyori'.

As a related event, the museum will host the lecture 'Talking about my father, Yoshiro Sata' by Yoshihiko Sata, combined with a special viewing of Yoshiro Sata's 'Ukifune', on Saturday, July 4th. This premium event is limited to 30 participants and will be held in the museum's second-floor salon and Japanese-style room after hours.

The current exhibition features panels and digital images of the illustrations Yoshiro Sata created for Jiro Osaragi's 'Tsuki no Hito' (serialized in the Yomiuri Shimbun from 1963 to 1964).

Yoshiro Sata (1922–1997) was a Japanese painter born in Tokyo. He studied historical painting under Yukihiko Yasuda. In 1951, at age 29, he first met Jiro Osaragi and began illustrating the serial novel 'The 48th Man'. For the next 40 years, he worked on numerous illustrations, frontispieces, and book designs for Osaragi's works.

The speaker, Yoshihiko Sata (Professor at Rissho University), specializes in ancient and medieval history. Since the NHK Taiga drama 'Taira no Kiyomori', he has served as an expert in yusoku kojitsu (court customs and rites) for numerous Taiga dramas, including the current one, 'Toyotomi Kyodai!'.

In this lecture, Sata will share memories of his father and discuss his artistic world. The event also includes a special viewing of the museum's screen painting 'Ukifune' by Yoshiro Sata, a rare work that was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2019.
