Yokohama Museum of Art Collection Exhibition "Landscapes to View, Landscapes to Consider" April 25 (Sat) - June 28 (Sun), 2026

This exhibition, titled "Landscapes to View, Landscapes to Consider," introduces diverse landscape expressions spanning from the 19th to the 21st century. We have carefully selected works related to "landscapes" from our collection, including nature such as mountains and seas, modern cities, and projections of the human inner world like dreams and the unconscious, to explore their appeal. Newly acquired works will also be publicly exhibited for the first time. While landscapes are perceived according to individual sensibilities, they are also intellectual subjects considered in relation to culture, society, and politics. What did artists and photographers see and think in landscapes, and how did they express them in their works? We invite you to experience the landscapes depicted by these artists at the venue.

In addition, the highlight corner will feature a careful selection of treasured works from the Yokohama Museum of Art's collection. We will present works by artists associated with Yokohama, as well as masterpieces by representative Western artists such as Kandinsky, Picasso, and Dalí, to showcase the allure of the collection.

Highlights

Linked with "110th Anniversary of His Death: Shikō Imamura, Revolutionary Painter of Japanese-style Painting" exhibition
Shikō Imamura, who incorporated expressions from Nanga painting and Impressionism to demonstrate his individuality in landscape painting. In this collection exhibition, we trace diverse landscape expressions, both domestic and international, from the late Meiji era onwards, when Imamura was active.

Public Display of New Acquisitions
Among the works newly acquired in recent years, those related to landscapes will be publicly exhibited for the first time.

"Highlights" Presented in a Special Space
Visitors can leisurely appreciate masterpieces by artists such as Picasso and Dalí in a gallery characterized by its high ceiling and cylindrical space.

Closed: Thursdays *Except April 30 and May 7, which will be open.

Admission Fees: General 500 (400) yen, University students 300 (240) yen, Junior/High school students 100 (80) yen, Elementary school students and younger free.
