Premier Anti-Aging R&D Head Kazutaka Matsuo Wins 2025 Progress Award from the Japan Oil Chemists’ Society

Premier Anti-Aging Co., Ltd. announced that Kazutaka Matsuo, General Manager of its Technology Development Department, has received the 2025 Progress Award from the Japan Oil Chemists’ Society. The award recognizes outstanding achievements by young researchers expected to contribute to the advancement of science and industry in oil chemistry-related fields. Matsuo was honored for his research on creating highly aerated and stable oleofoams. The study enables oleofoams, which previously required refrigeration due to instability, to be stored at room temperature. By applying proprietary temperature control involving rapid cooling and reheating to a specific fat, tribehenoyl-glycerol, the research achieved a stabilizing effect in which crystals envelop air bubbles. Without using water or surfactants, the formulation achieved both 30 days of stable storage at 20°C and an air content of 300%, 1.5 times higher than conventional levels. The technology could reduce logistics energy consumption by eliminating the need for refrigeration, while also accelerating the development of low-irritation cosmetics and low-calorie foods. Its potential contribution to a sustainable society was highly evaluated. The formulation features a water-free and surfactant-free proprietary composition, new sensory and functional properties, and reduced environmental impact. Expected applications include cosmetics for sensitive skin, skincare products for all age groups, and broader development in the cosmetics and food sectors. The fine whipped texture offers cushion-like resilience, light spreadability, and reduced stress on the skin. Matsuo commented that the company will use this research as a foundation to further integrate new scientific insights with proprietary technologies through industry-academia-government collaboration centered on its in-house laboratory, while pursuing anti-aging solutions unique to Premier Anti-Aging and balancing environmental considerations with market needs.
