Survey Summary

The largest group, 29% of people, reported leaving their air conditioner on all day "almost every day" in the summer, followed by those who do so "1-2 days a week."

The time periods when air conditioners are left on are often "during the day when at home" and "during sleep," with the most common purpose being "to maintain comfort."

About half of the respondents have disagreements with family or housemates about leaving the air conditioner on.

While about 90% are concerned about the increase in electricity bills associated with leaving the air conditioner on, over 80% expect their air conditioner usage time to increase if intense heat continues.
