This initiative is planned by nine students from the Faculty of Regional Creation, with the aim of having students take the lead in planning and operating, and learning to practically discover and disseminate the region's charm. Previously, under student planning, they have worked on discovering and disseminating regional charms and challenges by conducting similar events in other prefectures, with the aim of exploring local history and interacting with diverse generations. In the Ota area of Ibaraki City, the university, local residents, and the city have been developing collaborative activities called 'Ota Chie no Wa.' This Rogaining event will be held as an event of 'Ota Chie no Wa,' based on past collaboration achievements. Through 'town walking' incorporating elements of navigation sports, it is positioned as an opportunity for multiple generations to enjoy and learn about various regional charms and challenges, and will be conducted as part of their graduation research.

The event will start and finish at the Academic Base (2nd floor, BSC204 classroom) within the university's Ibaraki Sojiji Campus. Participants will plan their routes as teams and visit spots set in the area from Hankyu Sojiji Station to around Ota Elementary School north of the Meishin Expressway within a two-hour time limit. Each spot (Ota Shrine, cafe, Nishigawara Park, Sojiji Temple, station, confluence of Ai River and Ibaraki River, etc.) has points assigned to it. Teams will compete for the total score, which includes points earned by taking photos with all team members at these spots and bonus points for clearing challenges related to the spots. The aim is not merely tourism, but to foster an appreciation for the region and discover its unique characteristics and hidden historical spots by strategizing as a team while walking through the town.
