OSP Holdings group company Printbiz Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Tamotsu Iwaki), which manufactures general commercial prints such as flyers and brochures, and develops mail-order printing, announces that it has installed the first domestic unit of the Heidelberg-made digital printing press "Jetfire 50" and will commence full-scale operation from April 2026.

Printbiz has been promoting environmentally conscious business practices, such as introducing a waterless printing method that minimizes waste liquid in offset printing. While already operating an electrophotographic digital printing press, the company is further strengthening its environmental initiatives by adding the inkjet-based "Jetfire 50" to expand its digital printing capabilities. Previously, for medium to large runs of variable print products (printing where only a portion of the content is changed, e.g., lottery ticket numbers), a two-pass process was used: offset printing for the base and digital printing for the variable parts, which incurred significant costs and time. This new machine enables high-speed printing of both the base and variable parts simultaneously, improving manufacturing efficiency. This will allow Printbiz to offer cost reductions and shorter delivery times to its customers.

Background of Introduction

Printbiz began practical operation of waterless printing in oil-based offset printing in 2013 and succeeded in waterless LED-UV offset printing the following year. In 2017, all offset printing machines were switched to waterless operation, continuing its environmental efforts. The printing industry is affected by the declining demand for commercial printing, leading to an increase in companies going out of business and fabless companies that do not own printing manufacturing equipment. In this context, Printbiz has introduced this machine to continue its role as a printing provider in the local community while remaining environmentally conscious.

OSP Group's Environmental Initiatives

The OSP Group is strengthening the development and launch of environmentally friendly products from the perspectives of CO2 reduction and SDGs to meet the needs of a society that emphasizes environmental conservation. Manufacturing processes are similarly being enhanced by increasing the number of digital printing presses, using water-based inks, and actively adopting printing methods that reduce organic solvents. As a member of the OSP Group, Printbiz will continue these efforts going forward.
