■ Comment from Daisuke Ishizuka
"I became an artist after a trip to the Arctic about four years ago. To confront myself further, I built an atelier in the mountains and spent about eight months in self-improvement. For these new works, I painted the protagonist of my gag manga 'Tanaka Minoru-kun,' which I have been drawing for over 10 years, as the base for all of them, then layered landscapes and figures over it, finishing by scraping away the surfaces. I hope to continue racing across the world's stage as a representative of Osaka University of Arts."
