[Unazuki Onsen Yamanoha] Promoting Disaster Prevention with the Community: 'Unazuki Onsen Disaster Prevention Lecture' to be Held on June 25, 2026 (Thursday)

Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Yamanoha (located in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, General Manager: Takashi Kikuchi, hereafter 'Yamanoha') will provide the venue and operational cooperation for the 'Unazuki Onsen Disaster Prevention Lecture' hosted by the Unazuki Onsen Voluntary Disaster Prevention Association, to be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026. This lecture is part of the regional disaster prevention activity 'Unazuki Onsen ~Tsunagu Bousai~' (Connecting Disaster Prevention) launched in 2026 by the association to improve local disaster prevention capabilities. Yamanoha has been cooperating with this initiative, having previously agreed with the association's purpose and conducted the 'Unazuki Onsen Emergency Life-Saving Course' in April 2026.

Recognizing the characteristics of a hot spring resort visited by many tourists, Yamanoha is working to improve disaster prevention awareness and strengthen disaster response capabilities by collaborating with community-led disaster prevention activities centered on the Unazuki Onsen Voluntary Disaster Prevention Association.

■ About the 'Unazuki Onsen Disaster Prevention Lecture'

This lecture will be held for a wide range of people, primarily those involved in the tourism and inn industry of Unazuki Onsen, as well as disaster prevention officials and local residents. We welcome Mr. Michishita, the manager of Kagaya in Wakura Onsen, as the lecturer. He will speak on the theme 'What Actions Did Kagaya Take During the Noto Peninsula Earthquake?' The talk will cover not only the response as a tourism business but also the ideal approach to disaster prevention, including support for local residents. Mr. Michishita, as the manager of Kagaya, has experience in disaster response during the Noto Peninsula earthquake and is currently engaged in recovery and reconstruction efforts. He also gives lectures on disaster prevention and crisis management across the country, sharing extensive knowledge from the perspective of disaster response and organizational management in the accommodation industry. During the lecture, Yamanoha's fire and disaster prevention manager will also share the facility's disaster prevention system, equipment preparations, and employee training as an accommodation facility. The goal is to raise disaster prevention awareness throughout the region.

■ About the Implementation of the Unazuki Onsen Emergency Life-Saving Course

The Unazuki Onsen Emergency Life-Saving Course was held over three days on April 5, 13, and 16, 2026. It was conducted as a 3-hour 'Standard Life-Saving Course I' led by firefighters from the Unazuki Fire Department. The course was targeted at residents of the Unazuki Onsen area and employees of Unazuki Onsen. It included knowledge acquisition through DVD viewing and demonstrations, as well as practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an AED. Participants repeatedly engaged in practical exercises, seriously working to improve their emergency response capabilities. Yamanoha provided the venue and operational support, fulfilling its role as a regional disaster prevention hub. As a unique initiative of the inn, Yamanoha also distributed emergency food rations to participants, providing an experiential opportunity to learn about the importance of disaster preparedness stockpiles.

■ 'Unazuki Onsen ~Tsunagu Bousai~'

This is a regional disaster prevention activity implemented by the Unazuki Onsen Voluntary Disaster Prevention Association, aimed at improving disaster prevention awareness in the region and strengthening cooperation among related organizations. Yamanoha intends to treat this initiative not as a one-off event but, as the largest inn in Unazuki Onsen, to continue cooperating in ongoing disaster prevention activities while fulfilling its role as a regional disaster prevention hub. In collaboration with the Unazuki Onsen Voluntary Disaster Prevention Association and the Unazuki Onsen Ryokan Association, Yamanoha will contribute to improving the overall disaster prevention capabilities of the region through regular disaster drills and enhanced information dissemination.
