TOKYO — April 22, 2026
Oracle Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Executive President: Tomomitsu Misawa) announced today that Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director, President and CEO: Takanori Takahashi; hereinafter, CCC) has migrated over 30 core business systems, including TSUTAYA's online services and headquarters/store operations, to “Oracle Base Database Service” on “Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)”. This aims to achieve a 50% reduction in TCO over five years while maintaining equivalent performance, and to enable in-house operations by leveraging cloud flexibility.
CCC is a planning company that proposes new lifestyles with the mission of “creating cultural infrastructure.” For businesses, it develops solution businesses that aim to solve problems by utilizing intellectual capital, and consulting businesses that create new value and new business opportunities through partnerships. For consumers, it operates retail and style businesses that accumulate intellectual capital while providing new value.
This migration covered over 30 systems, including “Oracle AI Database” running on IA servers, ranging from internet service platforms such as online rentals and online shops to headquarters and store business systems. Previously, operational costs increased due to regular large-scale renewals accompanying hardware replacement and increased outsourcing costs due to system expansion. Furthermore, there were flexibility issues such as the generation of surplus resources and the difficulty of rapidly expanding resources in line with service expansion.
By migrating to OCI, CCC achieved both cost optimization and flexibility. While maintaining performance equivalent to the conventional system, it became possible to utilize virtual machines and database services at competitive prices, and it became easy to increase or decrease resources according to peak seasons.
Although CCC's IT department had no prior experience with OCI, they leveraged public knowledge, Oracle's free migration support service “Oracle Cloud Lift Services,” Oracle Japan's consulting services division, and support from Hitachi Solutions, Ltd. They accumulated expertise through multiple PoCs and led the basic design to construction in-house. As a result, the migration was completed in approximately 12 months without major application modifications. After operation, by utilizing the know-how cultivated through in-house development, rapid troubleshooting became possible, and operational stability was achieved.
Mr. Takayuki Suzuki, Manager of the Platform Engineering Department, IT Platform Planning and Promotion Headquarters, Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., stated: “The migration to OCI is not limited to current stable operation but is directly linked to securing scalability for future business expansion. We aim to advance services and improve customer experience under a secure and scalable data foundation. This migration has led to operational efficiency and resource optimization, enabling us to provide a superior customer experience. Furthermore, with comprehensive manuals, an easy-to-understand interface, and sufficient security settings, we were able to achieve in-house basic design, construction, and operation.”
