The Tourism Big Data Department of Opentone Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) launched its official website on April 1, 2026. With the slogan 'Maximizing local "earning power" with AI and data', the site's theme is Tourism x AI x Big Data.
We will proactively publish the tourism DX know-how and case studies that our department has accumulated over the past 10 years since 2015, working together with ministries, local governments, associations, and numerous tourism operators (such as travel agencies and accommodation facilities).

### Background of the Launch: Our Thoughts
The number of foreign visitors to Japan in 2025 reached a record high of approximately 42.68 million (according to the Japan National Tourism Organization).
In addition to the rapid expansion of tourism demand due to the increase in foreign visitors, tourism data continues to grow and become massive due to the digitization of tourism distribution, such as tourist guidance and reservations via websites and apps.
On the other hand, we have heard many voices from the frontlines struggling with a lack of DX personnel and data utilization, saying, 'We have the data, but we can't turn it into a strategy.' Through joint development with the Japan Travel and Tourism Association (hereafter: Japan Tourism Association) and JTB Corp. (hereafter: JTB), we have supported the creation of a foundation for tourism DX.
Driven by the desire to 'use this experience (know-how) to help even more regions', we have launched the department's first official website.
### Characteristics of the Tourism Big Data Department
1. End-to-end support from 'starting' data utilization to 'social implementation that produces results'
Answering the question 'Where should we start?', we provide support in 4 steps: 'Collect -> Visualize -> Interpret -> Act'. We can handle everything consistently from data collection to the implementation of measures and effect measurement.
2. Joint development with public institutions and industry partners
In cooperation with the Japan Tourism Association and JTB, we are jointly developing the 'Japan Tourism Promotion Digital Platform' and the 'Accommodation Data Analysis System'. Also, through the Tourism Forecast Platform Promotion Council, in which many companies participate, we are operating the 'Tourism Forecast Platform'.
3. In-house product 'Kantan Check-in' supporting the front lines of accommodation facilities
'Kantan Check-in' is a service that realizes the digitization of check-in operations and the sharing of regional data. It supports the front lines of the accommodation industry, which is facing a severe labor shortage.
4. 10 years of progress and development track record
From its inception in 2015 to the present, the department has accumulated a track record of hundreds of projects in the tourism DX field. We are also engaged as a member of Keidanren and the Japan Tourism Association.
