Interview with Kiminobu Era, Kokura Branch Manager
Kiminobu Era, Kokura Branch Manager
—Your frank impressions.
Era: Having worked at the Kokura branch since joining the company, and with business expanding in recent years due to warehouse extensions and enhanced processing machinery, I am deeply honored to be appointed as branch manager. At the same time, I am keenly aware of the heavy responsibility.
—Please tell us about your career.
Era: I was born in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, and played for the soccer club from junior high school through university. I was so engrossed in soccer that I barely remember studying, so it's a mystery how I managed to graduate from university in four years (laughs). After graduating, I joined this company and have consistently specialized in civil engineering products within the construction division. Therefore, my clients were mainly major and local general contractors, and most of my work was on civil engineering sites.
—Are there any particularly memorable projects from that time?
Era: Receiving a comprehensive order for seismic reinforcement work on bridges and bridge piers. At that time, seismic reinforcement work was just beginning to be introduced nationwide, and it was a type of project no one in our company had ever undertaken. We had no know-how and had to proceed by trial and error, so working with my seniors and colleagues to overcome it remains a strong memory.
—You've been working at the Kokura branch since joining the company. What kind of branch is Kokura?
Era: It has head office functions, and with about 130 people gathered on one floor, the atmosphere is disciplined, yet it's a vibrant branch with many young employees. Furthermore, there is excellent coordination between the steel division, construction division, and the warehouse, further strengthening our sense of unity.
—Finally, please share your aspirations.
Era: While further developing the Kokura branch's strength in community-rooted sales activities, I will focus on creating an organization where each individual can act proactively. We will continue to be a trusted presence for our local customers and contribute to "nation-building, town-building, and manufacturing."
