Preventing Falls in Construction and Infrastructure Sites with "Air" – Safety Air Mat Demonstrated at JECA FAIR 2026

A fall accident from a height of 3 meters – the impact is absorbed by "air." One Step Inc. (Headquarters: Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture), through its Air Disaster Prevention division, exhibited the "Safety Air Mat," a cushion for fall prevention during high-altitude work, at "JECA FAIR 2026 ~The 74th Electrical Construction Exhibition~" held at Tokyo Big Sight from May 27th to 29th, 2026, within the booth of Craftia Inc. Through demonstrations simulating actual work sites, they presented a new safety measure solution for electrical equipment and communication infrastructure construction, concluding successfully. Visitors who experienced the air structure with its high shock absorption capabilities firsthand expressed, "On-site implementation is realistic," and numerous specific implementation consultations were received from multiple companies over the three days.

Background: Persistent Falls from High Places

According to the "Overview of Occupational Accidents in Reiwa 7 (2025)" published by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the "Construction Industry" recorded the highest number of fatalities among all industries with 214 deaths. Furthermore, when looking at fatalities by type (cause), "Falls and Collapses" accounted for the largest number with 186 cases, topping the list of death causes (※Source: Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare "Overview of Occupational Accidents in Reiwa 7").

As such, strengthening safety measures for high-altitude work in construction and infrastructure sites remains an urgent social issue. To address these challenges, Craftia Inc., with whom we have a strong partnership, approached us saying, "We want to present practical safety measures using the Safety Air Mat to visitors again this year," leading to a joint exhibition at their booth (Hall 1) for the second consecutive year.

Demonstration at a "3m Scaffolding" Simulating Actual Sites and the Reaction

During the exhibition, to allow visitors to realistically experience the risk of falling accidents, the "Safety Air Mat" was installed beneath scaffolding approximately 3 meters high. The overwhelming presence of the large mat, designed in a striking yellow warning color, served as a powerful eye-catcher for the booth, drawing attention even from afar.

Visitors who directly experienced the cushioning properties and size unique to the air-based system expressed numerous voices of surprise and admiration, such as, "Even though it's an inflatable product, can it absorb impact this strongly?" and "It becomes compact when stored, making on-site implementation realistic."

The practical demonstrations attracted extremely high interest, resulting in multiple requests for specific quotations and on-site demonstrations, primarily from companies involved in infrastructure construction and electrical equipment installation. Additionally, visitors drawn to the mat also showed interest in Craftia Inc.'s products, creating a beneficial synergistic effect. We were also able to establish a strong collaboration with the team from Q-mast Inc., who assisted with booth attendance during the event, making the exhibition a showcase that maximized the strengths of both companies.
