On Technologies, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Nozomu Tsunoda), a group company of LegalOn Technologies, Inc. that develops AI for specialized fields, has begun offering its Professional AI "WorkOn" (https://on.tech/workon) for HR operations, with a free desktop application "WorkOn for Desktop (Beta)" (https://on.tech/workon/desktop) that automatically estimates and records work hours using AI. The beta version references PC activity, calendar, and chat tool activity to record work hours, and includes features to assist with human review, correction, and submission. It can be used immediately after download.
This application can be used as a standalone tool, regardless of whether the "WorkOn" main product is implemented. If your workplace has implemented "WorkOn," confirmed attendance data from this application will be automatically linked to "WorkOn's" attendance management function, allowing for attendance submission.
Expansion of system integration beyond "WorkOn" and other feature enhancements are planned sequentially.

Background of Free Offering of "WorkOn for Desktop (Beta)" to Eliminate the Need for Manual Clock-Ins
"WorkOn" has so far provided functions such as labor management, attendance management, and payroll calculation for HR personnel. By integrating its AI into business operations, "WorkOn" reduces the burden of tasks such as "searching for information," "inputting data," and "creating documents," supporting the creation of a work environment where HR can focus more on "confirmation, judgment, and improvement."
However, attendance management is not a task that can be completed by HR alone. It is an area where clock-in omissions and forgetting to close attendance at the end of the month are prone to occur for the employees who actually record their daily attendance. In recent years, the flexibility of work locations and times has increased due to office work, remote work, going out, commuting, taking breaks during the day, and the utilization of flextime systems. As a result, discrepancies between attendance data and actual work status are more likely to occur. Employees need to review their work hours on their calendars and re-enter and confirm them in the attendance system, which is a burden. HR also cannot grasp accurate work hours in real-time, making it difficult to manage working hours appropriately, potentially leading to increased confirmation workload and risks related to legal compliance.
In response to these challenges, "WorkOn" has begun offering the free desktop application "WorkOn for Desktop (Beta)," where AI automatically estimates and records work hours on the PC, eliminating the need to consciously clock in. Through this application, we aim to naturally support the daily work of each employee and reduce the burden of input and confirmation in attendance management.
In the future, "WorkOn for Desktop (Beta)" will sequentially expand its functions to support the daily work of employees, not just attendance management. We also aim to provide a more seamless user experience by promoting integration with external applications and various business systems.
Features of "WorkOn for Desktop (Beta)" for Easy Startup
This desktop application can be downloaded and used by individual employees as a standalone tool, even if their company has not implemented the HR-focused "WorkOn." The first set of features is available immediately after download for free, to help grasp one's own work hours and streamline daily review tasks.
1 Estimates work hours based on PC activity, calendar, and chat
Based on PC activity, calendar, and chat tool (Slack) activity, the AI automatically estimates work start time, end time, and break times. It considers meetings, absences from the desk, breaks, and mid-day breaks, which are difficult to determine solely by PC startup/shutdown times, and presents attendance data that is easy for employees to review.
2 AI's estimation results can be reviewed by individuals and corrected as needed The attendance data estimated by AI is notified via direct message on the chat tool. Employees can review the notification and submit it as is, or correct their work hours and break times if necessary.
By combining AI automation with individual confirmation, it supports attendance management that aligns with actual work conditions while reducing input effort.
3 Customization of automatic submission based on the accuracy of work hour estimation
The AI determines the estimation accuracy in three levels. Days with stable AI estimation accuracy and those without are clearly visible. Depending on the estimation accuracy, users can choose from four levels whether to submit attendance data after personal review or to automatically submit attendance data. Settings can be customized to match the company's operational policy and individual preferences. For example, companies requiring strict management can have all submissions manually confirmed, while speed-focused companies can opt for automatic submission based on AI's judgment.
Even after automatic submission by AI, employees can modify their attendance data until the attendance period closes.
4 AI estimation accuracy improves based on individual work styles through correction
When employees correct AI's estimation results, those corrections are utilized to improve future estimation accuracy. For example, by reflecting tendencies such as certain time slots being frequently used for travel or taking breaks after regular meetings, the need to repeat the same corrections is reduced.
5 Privacy-conscious design
While this feature handles information necessary for attendance estimation, it does not capture keyboard input, file contents, or screen captures.
Furthermore, data obtained from PC activity, calendar, and chat is sent to the server for inference, but it is designed to be deleted from the server after the inference process is complete. By not continuously accumulating data on the server, it enables operations that are considerate of privacy and security.
