Omigyu Trading Company Pte. Ltd. (Headquarters: Singapore), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sogo Omi Beef Trading Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture / Representative Director: Tatsuhiro Nishino), has grand opened its first Chinese-produced Wagyu steak restaurant in Shanghai, China, on April 26, 2026, through Shanghai Xidaju Restaurant Management Co., Ltd., a joint venture established with the Chinese company Shanghai Yushen Investment Co., Ltd.

Background of Opening

The People's Republic of China, as one of the world's largest consumer markets, is seeing an expansion of middle and affluent classes, primarily in urban areas, leading to a rapid increase in demand for dining experiences that emphasize safety, quality, and brand story. Shanghai, in particular, is a leading Chinese city where Japanese cuisine and high-value dining establishments are concentrated, and there is extremely high interest in high-quality beef, including Wagyu. On the other hand, a market characteristic in China is that the import of Japanese-produced Wagyu is not officially permitted.

Considering this environment, our group is building a new business model that utilizes Wagyu produced within China (Chinese-produced Wagyu) while optimizing for the local market:
