Hotel Nikko Osaka (1-3-3 Nishi-Shinsaibashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, President and General Manager: Hiroaki Gofuku) will exhibit works that reproduce famous Western and Japanese paintings in Nishijin-ori, created using the weaving techniques of Nishijin-ori Art Crafts "Asagi," in the main lobby (2nd floor) from July 2 (Thu), 2026, to July 30 (Thu).

Hotel Nikko Osaka aims to widely introduce the charm of Japanese traditional crafts to domestic and international guests. To this end, since 2023, we have been holding exhibitions of traditional crafts in our hotel's public spaces, which are directly connected to the station. This time, we will introduce Nishijin-ori Art Crafts "Asagi," which reproduces masterpieces and famous paintings using Nishijin-ori's highest level of weaving techniques. During the exhibition period, a total of 5 pieces will be displayed, including works related to Osaka's Tenjin Matsuri and Kyoto's Gion Matsuri, as well as works based on world-famous paintings.
Additionally, a video introducing the appeal and production process of "Asagi" will be screened in the exhibition corner. Please take a close look at the art crafts created by delicate weaving techniques.
Exhibited Works:
1 Nishijin-ori Ultra-Fine Weave Folding Screen Ogata Korin's "Red and White Plum Blossoms" and "Matsushima"
A work combining the designs of Ogata Korin's representative works, "Red and White Plum Blossoms Folding Screen" and "Matsushima Folding Screen." In conjunction with the Tenjin Matsuri at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, held during the exhibition period, the "Red and White Plum Blossoms Folding Screen," which depicts "plum blossoms" related to the enshrined deity Sugawara no Michizane, will be specially exhibited.
2 Nishijin-ori Ultra-Fine Weave Maru-obi "Rakuchu Byobu-e Taikan" from Uesugi-bon, etc.
A magnificent and gorgeous work woven with pure gold leaf and platinum leaf, depicting the festival float procession of Kyoto's Gion Matsuri, based on the "Uesugi-bon, Rakuchu Rakugai-zu Byobu" and other works.
3 Nishijin-ori Ultra-Fine Weave Fukuro-obi Vincent van Gogh's "Sunflowers" *Framed Exhibition
A work that reproduces the colors and even the brushstrokes of oil painting in "Sunflowers" using 20 colors of the world's highest quality silk thread (Bratac 6A).
4 Nishijin-ori Ultra-Fine Weave "Tanabata" *Framed Exhibition
In conjunction with the "Tanabata Festival" on July 7, this work expresses the scene of the Milky Way sparkling in the night sky.
*The Nishijin-ori Ultra-Fine Weave "Tanabata" will be exhibited for a limited time from July 2 (Thu) to July 7 (Tue). It is scheduled to be replaced with other works after July 8 (Wed).
About Nishijin-ori Art Crafts "Asagi" Nishijin-ori, said to be Japan's oldest traditional industry, originated in the Heian period and has been passed down through generations by the skill of artisans, influenced by various cultures to this day. Nishijin-ori Art Crafts "Asagi" uses an "1800-pick Jacquard loom" to weave masterpieces and famous paintings with a fineness 4 to 9 times that of ordinary Nishijin-ori. With its high technical skill, it expresses rich brushwork, colors, and free ideas in the world of textiles.
