Hotel Nikko Alivila to Serve 'Chimaki' for Dragon Boat Festival Starting June 22

Hotel Nikko Alivila (Yomitan Village, Okinawa Prefecture / General Manager: Koichi Nakajima) will offer hotel-original 'chimaki' made by dim sum chefs at the casual buffet 'Hana Hana' lunch buffet from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26, 2026, in celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, one of China's three major festivals.

At the casual buffet 'Hana Hana', we offer Japanese, Western, Okinawan, and Chinese dishes. In particular, the dim sum prepared by our hotel's dim sum chefs is very popular. To allow guests to enjoy an even wider variety of Chinese dishes, we are rolling out a series of menus themed around Chinese festivals. As the third installment, we will offer limited-time 'chimaki' for the Dragon Boat Festival.

'Chimaki' is said to be derived from the story of Qu Yuan, a poet and politician from China's Warring States period, and is loved as a traditional dish representing the Dragon Boat Festival in China. It was also introduced to Japan along with the customs of Boys' Day, and various shapes and flavors have been passed down in different regions. At our hotel, we carefully wrap fragrant glutinous rice mixed with a variety of ingredients such as dried shrimp, Chinese ham, and shiitake mushrooms in bamboo leaves, finishing them in an easy-to-eat size.

Going forward, 'Hana Hana' will continue to offer a wide variety of Chinese dishes as well as lineup incorporating seasonal flavors such as festivals.
