Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto, located in Shijo Karasuma, the heart of Kyoto (Location: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; General Manager: Takashi Kitagawa), will host the "Tanzania Fair in Kyoto '26" from Friday, May 15, 2026, to Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Chicken Grille with Chickpea Ragout and Tanzanian-style Pilaf
This year, we are once again holding the "Tanzania Fair," where you can enjoy Tanzanian food culture and art. At "Café & Dining Amber Court," we offer a menu featuring Tanzanian cuisine, arranged to highlight its unique charm, which is a fusion of diverse food cultures. You can casually enjoy à la carte dishes, including "Chicken Grille with Chickpea Ragout and Tanzanian-style Pilaf," which emphasize the natural flavors of the ingredients while enhancing them with aromatic spices. Additionally, our pastry chef's special sweets will feature a mousse tart luxuriously made with Tanzanian cacao and coffee.
At "Main Bar Darley," we will offer original cocktails inspired by the cityscape of Stone Town, a World Heritage site, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails that weave together Tanzanian and Japanese elements.
Furthermore, in the lobby, with the cooperation of Gallery Tanzaniafilia, we will hold an exhibition and sale of "Tingatinga" paintings, an art style originating from Tanzania, and original goods. You can spend a relaxing time immersing yourself in the world of these artworks.
We invite you to experience a special moment where you can feel Tanzania with all five senses, alongside pop art that reflects its rich nature and the warmth of its people.

"Asante" 700 yen
This cake features chocolate adorned with the colors of the Tanzanian flag on top, and is luxuriously made with Tanzanian cacao and coffee. A rich chocolate mousse conceals a coffee crème brûlée, creating a bittersweet and rich flavor. The tart uses an almond dough kneaded with coffee beans and chocolate, bringing out the full flavor of the ingredients. As its name "Asante" (meaning "thank you" in Swahili) suggests, it is a dish filled with gratitude for nature's bounty.
Asante
Tanzanian Cocktails
"Stone Town" 1,800 yen
A cocktail inspired by the beautiful stone architecture of Stone Town, a World Heritage site in Tanzania. The sweetness of banana liqueur and the moderate acidity of yogurt liqueur combine, with the sweet and spicy aroma of nutmeg lingering on the palate.
"Amani" (Non-alcoholic) 1,500 yen
A non-alcoholic adaptation of "Dawa," a cocktail popular as a "healing drink" in Tanzania. It incorporates yuzu tea, creating a drink with a Japanese essence. The sweetness of yuzu tea and the refreshing acidity of lime spread pleasantly in the mouth.

◆ Exhibition and Sale of Paintings and Original Goods
"Tingatinga" is a painting style that originated in Tanzania in the late 1960s. It is a representative modern African art form, depicting savanna animals, rich nature, and people's lives with bold, deformed compositions and vibrant colors.
