Grand Nikko Awaji (located in Awaji City, Hyogo) announced that its Japanese restaurant 'Awami' will begin serving 'Awaji Island Raw Whitebait Seafood Bowl' and 'Awaji Island Raw Whitebait Seafood Course' starting April 25, 2026, coinciding with the lifting of the fishing ban. The 'raw whitebait' from Iwaya Port, rubbed by the fast currents of the Akashi Strait, is highly prized. Only about 2% of the catch, selected by skilled craftsmen for its exceptional quality, is branded as 'Kireimon.' The seafood bowl features this whitebait alongside seasonal local ingredients like new onions and seaweed. The seafood bowl is priced at 3,300 yen, and a more luxurious course including tempura and simmered sea bream is available for 5,500 yen. Guests can enjoy these seasonal flavors at the 'Awaji Yumebutai' facility designed by architect Tadao Ando.
