This year, seven volunteer coaches were honored.
The "Okayama University Academic Society Award Recipient Award" aims to highly evaluate and commend students who have received awards established by academic societies. This year, 13 self-nominated or other-nominated students were recognized.
The "Okayama University Student Culture Encouragement Award" is presented to individuals or groups recognized for excellent performance or outstanding achievements in extracurricular cultural activities. The "Okayama University Student Sports Award" grants the Sports Excellence Award and Sports Encouragement Award to individuals or groups who have achieved outstanding results in extracurricular sports activities, and the Sports Contribution Award to individuals or groups recognized for significant contributions in supporting these activities. This year, 104 individuals and 19 organizations were honored.
At the awards ceremony, Director (Education & Student Affairs) and Senior Vice President Masaharu Suga presented certificates of commendation to representatives of each award category. He expressed gratitude to the volunteer coaches for their many years of guidance and congratulated the student awardees, showing respect for their daily studies and extracurricular achievements.
Shinji Namba, a volunteer coach for the Kyudo club; Kiyoshi Ikuma (1st-year doctoral student, Graduate School of Environmental, Life, and Natural Science), who received the "Student Excellent Presentation Award" at "The 80th Annual Meeting of the Physical Society of Japan"; and Saki Onishi (4th-year student, Faculty of Letters) of the Weight Training Club, who won the Women's 63kg+ category at the "52nd All Japan Student Powerlifting Championship," delivered speeches on behalf of the awardees.
Okayama University will continue to support the diverse challenges and growth of each student, generate advanced knowledge, pass on accurate knowledge to the next generation, and contribute to the development of human society through activities such as education, research, and social contribution.
