◆Overview

National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasuyuki Hibino) announced on March 27, 2026, at its regular press conference (President's Announcement), the "Policy Proposal for Tuition Fee Adjustment for Students Enrolling from Academic Year 2027 - Adjustments will be made based on stakeholder feedback," which was compiled after deliberations in the university's statutory meetings.

The university has declared the "Okayama University Research University Declaration" and aims to continue to be a research university that co-creates the future of the region and the globe, contributing to global innovation, and serving as a core research institution for the region while competing on the world stage. To achieve this, it is necessary to create an environment where each student can study with peace of mind and to further enhance education and research. Furthermore, to promote the internationalization of the university and establish its position as a global education and research hub, increased support for international students is also required.

Until now, the university has made self-help efforts such as acquiring external funding and carefully managing various expenses to secure funds for student education. Based on these past considerations, in order to ensure sufficient educational expenses for students in the future, further improve and enhance the education and research environment, and promote internationalization, the university has considered a plan for phased tuition fee adjustments as students progress through their academic years. Current students are not subject to this policy.

With these financial resources, the university will further develop a more enriched education and research environment, promote internationalization, and strengthen research capabilities and innovation creation.

In addition, to ensure that students, including international students, do not have their opportunities for higher education unduly hindered by increased financial burdens due to this revision, the university will further expand its student support systems to assist excellent and motivated students in continuing their studies.

In the future, the university plans to exchange opinions with stakeholders, and based on the feedback received, will present a revised tuition fee adjustment proposal for deliberation. (Today's announcement is not a final decision, but merely a "Policy Proposal for Tuition Fee Adjustment for Students Enrolling from Academic Year 2027").

We look forward to your continued support for the initiatives of Okayama University, a collaborative regional core and distinctive research university.
