◆ Overview
Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu) participates in the Chugoku-Shikoku startup ecosystem, 'Peace & Science Innovation Ecosystem (PSI)' (lead institution: Hiroshima University), and is engaged in fostering entrepreneurial talent to create university-launched startups. In the 'FY2025 PSI PhD Dispatch Program (Asia Region) NUS GRIP' conducted by PSI, three students from our university were selected as participants out of five chosen from the entire PSI. They have been participating in on-site training in Singapore since February 23, 2026.

This program allows doctoral students aspiring to become entrepreneurs to receive practical entrepreneurship education, including lectures and workshops, in an advanced overseas educational environment, with the goal of commercializing their own research seeds.

This time, the curriculum is based on the National University of Singapore's (NUS) deep-tech startup creation program 'GRIP,' and is scheduled to cover topics such as fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, problem-solving thinking, business design, market understanding, and pitching to investors in stages. The on-site training will be conducted from February 23 to March 13, for a duration of 20 days (approximately 3 weeks).

The participants from our university are THAMONWAN WANGANUTTARA, a third-year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences; KPONGAN DOSSOU, a second-year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology; and Hiromu Nakashima, a first-year student in the same major.

Our university will continue to promote the social implementation of research outcomes and the development of next-generation entrepreneurial talent in collaboration with regional and international networks, including PSI. Please look forward to the continued efforts of Okayama University, an open regional core and distinctive research university.
