Okamura Corporation's task seating 'MUKU' has received the 'Sustainability Award' in the Seating: Conference category of the Furniture section at 'Best of NeoCon 2026,' a prestigious award for outstanding products exhibited at 'NeoCon,' North America's largest commercial interior design exhibition.

Furthermore, the lounge chair 'Lucy' from Okamura's affiliate, Boss Design, received the 'Sustainability Award' in the Seating: Guest category and the 'Innovation Award' in the Seating: Sofas & Lounge category.

'NeoCon' (The National Exposition of Contract Furnishings) has been held annually since 1969 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, USA. Okamura has previously received awards for seven products at 'Best of NeoCon.'

'MUKU' is a task seating solution designed with the minimum essential elements without compromising comfort, combining a light aesthetic with high functionality. It was developed in collaboration with Foster + Partners Industrial Design.

Its simple, streamlined design flexibly adapts to various spaces and user needs. The name 'MUKU' is derived from the Japanese word for 'pure' or 'solid/natural beauty,' which is reflected in the product's design. 'MUKU' offers a line-up suitable for a wide range of applications, from office settings like task areas and conference zones to home workspaces, harmonizing naturally with its environment whether used as a single piece or in multiples.

The product utilizes recycled aluminum and recycled nylon, and features 'Re:net,' a sustainable knit fabric developed by Okamura. Through the use of these environmentally conscious materials, 'MUKU' contributes to reducing environmental impact.

- Overview of Boss Design Lounge Chair 'Lucy' -

'Lucy' is a lounge chair designed with re-upholstery in mind. In addition to its sculptural beauty and comfort, the upholstery can be replaced without tools, extending the product's lifespan and contributing to waste reduction, decreased workload, and lower CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process.

To achieve a practical circular design, it utilizes elastic ropes commonly found in yachting, combining superior design and comfort through carefully selected materials and a simple structure.
