Okamura Corporation (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and Representative Director: Masayuki Nakamura) announced on June 8, 2026, at NeoCon 2026 in Chicago, USA, the launch of its task seating 'MUKU,' developed in collaboration with Foster + Partners Industrial Design. The product is scheduled for release in November.

'MUKU' is a task seating solution composed of minimal elements without compromising comfort, blending a lightweight appearance with high functionality. It was developed in collaboration with Foster + Partners Industrial Design.

Its simple, pared-down design allows it to adapt flexibly to various spaces and user needs. The name 'MUKU' is derived from the Japanese word 'muku' (innocence/purity), which is reflected in the product's design. 'MUKU' offers a lineup that caters to a wide range of uses, from office environments like work areas and meeting rooms to home work, harmonizing naturally with its surroundings whether used as a single unit or in multiple units.

'MUKU' reflects the shared manufacturing philosophy of both companies: precision technology and design based on ergonomics. In addition to Okamura’s proprietary ankle-tilt reclining mechanism and varied-hardness cushioning, it features adjustment mechanisms such as seat height and depth, 4D adjustable arms, and lumbar support, realizing a comfortable sitting experience. Furthermore, by compacting the complex mechanisms supporting the seating movement, it achieves both aesthetic beauty and intuitive operability. It is available in four colors.

Developed through a process of repeated design and prototyping by both companies, 'MUKU' integrates design and engineering at a high level, meeting the design and quality standards demanded by the global market.
